Today I dive into the world of cabinets and credenzas! For starters, I had to figure out the difference between the two furniture types. After a little research, I gathered that they are quite similar. A credenza was actually previously considered a verb- it was “the act of tasting food and drinks for a lord, done so by a servant who was checking for poison”. In today’s world, a credenza is simply a beautiful piece of furniture used to serve food, also typically known as a server, sideboard or buffet. Cabinets on the other hand (also known as chests), are used for storing miscellaneous items and often have a finished surface on top, used for display. Credenzas are usually found in a dining room, where as a cabinet can be located in an entryway or living room. However, because there are really no set rule on style and décor, for this edition of Tori’s Top Picks, I will use both credenzas and cabinets interchangeably.
The first piece that caught my eye is this gorgeous Hooker Furniture Mélange Savion Door Chest. The oversized Celtic emblem hardware gives this cabinet such a regal look, yet is serene enough to fit in almost any space of your house. With a natural finish and arrow feet, this cabinet has a Far Eastern vibe. Make this chest work double duty and place your television on top. Hide all the cords and electronic components inside the double doors that include an adjustable shelf interior and ventilation slots! Find this chest here at Sheely’s Furniture and your home will finally have its signature statement piece!
This Coast to Coast Accents Four Door Media Credenza from Coast to Coast Imports has my name written all over it! One part “shabby chic”, one part glam, this credenza is anything but subtle! The distressed Hugh Soft Seafoam gives off an antique feel; whereas the Gold caming designs dividing the mirrored insets on the four doors adds just the right amount of glitz! Place this credenza in a neutral living room for a punch of color, or in a dining room, perfect for serving!
Is your home décor style a little rustic? Then this Vennilux Rustic Accent Cabinet in Distressed Finish from Signature Design by Ashley is calling your name! Both the wire brushed bisque finish and the pull ring hardware, make for a great vintage, casual look. This spacious accent cabinet can be used as an entertainment console, sofa table or server. Place a vase full of fresh flowers, several picture frames, or other decorative pieces on the surface of the cabinet for great stylish appeal!
